We are thankful to Prof. Dr. W. Strothmann for
extending to us an invitation to attend the Congress of the Academy of Gottingen
and deliver a lecture on the history of the Syrian Orthodox Church.
We gladly take this excellent opportunity to speak to you about the
position of our Church within the general church history, its liturgical
language, name, patriarchate, missionary work, ascetic life, educational
activities, Biblical heritage, practices, doctrine, as well as its point
of view concerning the Nestorian-Chalcedonian controversy, Apostolic
succession and finally its present situation.
